Today we’re going to learn about MONEY, (the value of coins, and dollar bills, how to change money, and how to add, subtract money).
Hôm nay, chúng ta sẽ học về TIỀN, bao gồm giá trị các đồng xu, tiền giấy, cách đổi tiền và cộng, trừ tiền Đô-la Mĩ.
Mục lục
Coins and dollar bills
We start with coins which are metal pieces of money in the United States.
Chúng ta bắt đầu với các đồng tiền xu Mĩ.
Khi ta đếm, hãy bắt đầu từ đồng xu có giá trị lớn nhất đến đồng có giá trị nhỏ nhất.
Ví dụ: What is the total value of the coins?
The total value of the coins is $0.91.
Dollar bills:
Dollars and cents
The symbol for the dollar is $, for cent is ¢.
When writing money, we also use the decimal point(.) to separate the cents from the dollars.
For example,
2 dollars can be written as $2 or $2.00.
30 cents can be written as 30¢ or $0.30.
2 dollars and 30 cents are written as $2.30 only.
Changing dollars and cents
$1 = 100¢
For example,
$1 = 100¢
$3 = 300¢
$3.70 = 300¢ + 70¢ = 370¢

Solution:
Dana has 2 quarters, 3 dimes, and 4 nickels.
= 50¢ + 30¢ +20¢ = 100¢
Veronica has 1 half-dollar, 1 quarter, 1 dime, and 10 pennies.
= 50¢ + 25¢ + 10¢ + 10¢ = 95¢
